Why this journey?

In this seventh year of ordained minisry I still wonder in amazement at the learnings I have had working in the church. Throughout this short time I've come to realize that ministry happens when you least expect it!

A friend and fellow pastor once told me that "ministry happens in the interruptions." You can never really 'plan' for ministry...it just happens. I believe that a vital purpose of the church is to create a hospitable environment in which ministry can be done effectively. Hopefully in the next few pages you can follow my journey in ministry. As it continues to evolve...so will this website.

Most recently I am excited about my new book I've just self-published in Fall 2011 called, "Committed to Love: Caring for Same-Sex Christian Couples." I hope you will support this ministry to LGBT couples by ordering a copy and passing it on to someone who can use it! Although the book was written primarily as a guide for clergy who are looking for help when counseling same-sex relationships, it can also be used as a self-reflective resource for same-sex couples. More publications are coming as I continue to express who God has called me to be!

This site is also dedicated to those who have journeyed with me at different points along the way. Some have stayed, some have traveled elsewhere..but all have been much appreciated! I also hope this site will serve to support and encourage other pastors who have, and are willing to take risks in ministry.

The life and testimony of Jesus has been my roadmap along the way. He was discouraged, and so have I been. He celebrated the outcasts and oppressed, and I do too. He stood firm when his convictions were strong, but he also changed his mind and behaviors when others taught him something different about God. I hope that I will do the same.

So, journey with me...let me know what you think. Check out my blog at

Blessings on your own journey of faith!
